Problems With the New Testament
Update: 2008-05-14
Not much time lately to update this page, unfortunately. Hopefully sometime this summer.

Just like this page on the Old Testament, I’m attempting to keep a list of interesting contradictions found in the New Testament.
Problems with the timing of the crucifixion
In Mark 14, we learn that Jesus is crucified the day after he eats the Passover meal. Beginning in verse 12, we hear that Christ and the apostles eat their passover meal in a house in the city. That night, they go to Gethsemane on the mount of Olives and after Judas’s betrayal, soldiers come and arrest Christ. Mark 15 opens the next day and starts the crucifixion story.
John 19 discusses the day that Christ is being crucified. In verse 14, John states that it was the day of the preparation of the Passover (i.e. the day before the Passover meal).
In summation: Mark says that Christ was crucified the day after they ate the Passover meal, and John says he was crucified the day before.
