In my personal opinion, I think the police department and the court system should be abandoned (utterly and totally), but I don't imagine I'll see that any time soon.

Per the money, here are the facts:

(1) To eat and live, you need money.
(2) In America, the more money you have, the better you eat and live.
(3) Money is hard to obtain.

If this were truly a place where you could divide the money up equally and everyone would be happy, I'd say screw frivolous lawsuits. But we live in a place and time where that simply isn't true. If you don't have money, your quality of life goes down; there's no way around it. This is America. As a result, the goal should be obtain as much money as possible. If you don't, then you will enjoy an inferior life. As such, I'm all for frivolous lawsuits. I keep crossing the street hoping that one day I'll get hit by a car, like an acquaintance of mine up at Berkeley (she refers to the time she was hit by a car as winning the lottery).
